Easter 2012

This year for Easter we drove down to St. George and spent the weekend with my Mom. We did a bunch of fun things, but we didn't really pull the camera out for much of it :(

This was our first time to ever take the kids to a city sponsored egg hunt... it was VERY crowded, and the boys didn't come out with much, but I think just being there in the crowd and excitement was fun for them!

Easter morning... not many pics taken, but here are a few. Nixon's highlight was the candy! And I think Easton's was the build-a-bears that the Easter bunny left for the boys, along with a build-a-bear gift card to pick out clothes! Very exciting :)

We also went to the St. George temple grounds as a family.
Very pretty place.

All about Nixon Daniel...

I haven't done any sort of formal pics of my boys, let alone pull out my camera (besides the ever so convenient camera attached to my phone) since I have been prego... and this doesn't count either, but I was taking pics of some of my nieces & nephews the other day and Nixon wanted to be included in the action! How could anyone say no to this smile?

Nixon is still my baby... he will continue on with that title for the next 7 weeks, then he will become big brother! When I was pregnant with Nixon, I told Dan that this was going to be the baby that we held. I felt that my cuddle time with Easton was way too short, and because of his personality, he was usually too busy to cuddle and such anyway. All I can say is that even though I wished to have one that loved to be held on a continuous basis, I needed to be careful about what I wished for! :)
Well, since the moment he was born, he was not satisfied to be anywhere but in my arms! Not only did he want to sleep with me holding him, he preferred if I was sitting up all night with him in my lap. While he is a better sleeper now, he doesn't fall asleep unless I am in close proximity and even though I always make sure he falls asleep in his room, he is usually by my side before I wake up every morning. Since he doesn't sleep well at night and refuses to nap during the day... he wakes up needing to be held for awhile every morning before he can really start the day, then falls asleep at the dinner table! Crazy boy... I've never been good with "sleep training'' or that sort of stuff :)

Aside from his love to cuddle with me, Nixon is one of the most independent toddlers you will meet! He gets very frustrated with things that he cannot do himself... such as tying his shoes! Easton hasn't even started to become interested in learning, so I am not sure why he feels the need to do this on his own. Let's just say that I have learned to just "go with it" when it comes to Nixon, and he no longer wears shoes that have laces :) Solution fixed! He can put on his own shoes, and leaves a little less work for me. He loves to be part of the "big kid" group, and when Easton has any friends over, he is right in the middle of their play time. So far, Easton hasn't minded the extra company :)

When Nixon wants to be unhappy, he really can be! But on the flip side, when he is happy... He is a REALLY a fun, happy loving boy! He has the BIGGEST smile, that melts my heart every time I see it. He is always concerned about Easton, making sure Easton is happy and cannot get enough of what Easton is doing.

We love our little Nixon.

Easton Soccer 2012

My conversation with Easton the other day:

Me: "Do you like playing soccer?"
E: "Yes! I wish I could play for 100 more days!"

At this point in the conversation I was a little confused. This was his first time playing on a soccer team, the 8 week "season" is ending this week and thus far he has looked MISERABLE! Laying on the soccer field, not even glancing at the ball when it comes close to him... etc. So, I continued the conversation to figure things out.

Me: "Do you like to run?"
E: "No!"

Me: "Do you like kicking the ball?"
E: "No!"

Me: "Well, what's your favorite part of soccer?"
E: "The TREATS!"

Yes, that sounds about right :)
