INSPIRATION: a big kid room for the boys

Easton is still in the "nursery" in a toddler bed. The poor kid is going to be 5 this year and I have been making plans to move him into a "big kid" room, but I have been struggling on how to exactly go about it. Last night I stumbled upon these posters, and I cannot be more excited to move along with the planning!

Since these posters cannot be sold because of copyright issues (and even if they were for sale, I most likely would not have wanted to spend the $ on them) Dan is going to copy them and paint them on 4 separate canvases... very cool if you ask me.

The next step is to get a bed. If Dan has some spare time (ha, ha) I am wanting him to build a bed looking something like this-

Otherwise I will be spending some quality time with the ad's on KSL.com :)

I am also wanting to learn how to make my first quilt, and since I have no experience... I thought that something like the picture below, without alot of pieces would be a good starter for me! If anyone knows of some good places to buy fabric for BOYS, that would be awesome.

Since we are the do-it-yourself type on EVERYTHING... it will take some time, but my goal is to have Easton, and eventually Nixon (on a trundle) in the new room by Christmas of this year! Wish us luck...

Tell Dan to paint us some posters too. I enjoy having Dan Bischoff art in my collection.

I do a little sewing ;)...I would check Joanne's, Hancock Fabrics, or Material Girls. I got the fabric for Will's bedding at Material Girls and I really love it, but it was kind of expensive....I love buying stuff on sale and/or with a coupon and I didn't have either when I got it! I also found a great queen sized sheet that I used for the back and for some of the front (I did a block quilt for him). Using a sheet is usually cheaper than having to buy (& piece) the back together. It looks like there are 5 different plaids in that quilt and it would be really easy to make a "copy". If you are not in a hurry, I would wait for the fall to find the plaids...the selection will be better! I would love to help if you need me :)
