The Best 4 Years!

4 years ago today, I met the guy that has made me count my blessings over and over again! I thought that it would be good for me to put my memories down in writing (since I am a better blogger, than a journaler), and hopefully it will be somewhat entertaining for some of you out there reading this!

My oldest sister, Cliss, was nice enough to let me live with her and her family in Lehi, and I was working full time and in school part time. I was working at a retail paper store in Orem, called Xpedx. Now, it was there that this story really started. A couple of months before this date 4 years ago, a boy named Phil started new where I worked. He's a pretty easy going sociable guy, so we became friends quickly and we even went on a couple of dates. One day while working, my new friend Phil told me that he felt that he needed to set me up with his friend named Dan. Now, I was a little irratated, and definately NOT excited to go on yet ANOTHER blind date, but I agreed.

SePtEmBeR 24, 2004:

I started the day off like any other. I went to work, and Phil gave me Dan's phone number (which is actually the same number that he has now) just in case I needed it. I worked until about 5 or so. Then after work I drove back up to Lehi, discovering that I had accidentally gotten locked out of the house! Well, I called my sister and their whole family in Lindon at her kid's school carnival. So, I drove to their carnival, and got a key. I actually had planned visiting teaching before my date (what was I thinking??), but since I had to drive to Lindon and back to get my key, my visiting teaching got bumped back in time. I still go, and I am in a family ward where I am 18, single and do not relate to these women who have lots of kids and have been married for 15 years and have known each other for years and I am thinking that they really have a lot to say! I am sitting and looking at my watch and I decide to tell my visiting teaching companion that I am sorry, but I have a date in 20 minutes and I have to leave, even though we still had more sisters to visit. I hadn't looked at myself since 6 am that morning when I got ready for work, and I was getting nervous! But I just kept telling myself that it was just a silly blind date anyway, and that it wasn't like I was going to marry this guy. So I race inside and try to make myself as presentable as possible. While I was getting ready, my then future sister-in-law, Shawna, calls. I was talking to her when I saw him through the front window {wow, he's a lot cutier than I was expecting} and I ended my phone conversation and answered the door.

ThE dAtE:

He picked me up and explained that we were going to meet up with a bunch of other couples and go to a cabin up Provo canyon and play games and stuff. The problem was that he didn't know where this cabin was, and that he needed to call his good buddy Mark to find out where to go, now that wasn't the real problem, the real problem was that he had been on his phone the whole day and that his phone was dead. I wasn't too impressed with how unprepared he was, but he seemed sincere so I quickly let it go. We met up at the mall with a few other people while Dan bought a car charger for his phone, and we figured out where we were going. Once we got there, it was really alot of fun! Everyone was new to me (and there was quite a bit of people), including my date, and sometimes it can take me awhile to warm up to new people, so I can imagine myself not saying too much especially at the begining. We played games, Dan and I won some of them, and then I also remember being horrible at this other game. After games we went outside an roasted marshmallows. Then Dan took me home. There was no kissing, but he did ask me if he could call me sometime again, and that made me happy that he even asked!

ThE nExT dAy:

The next day was a Saturday, and Phil called me and asked if I wanted to hang out with him and his friends. Thinking that Dan might possibly be there, I said yes on the terms that I could get a ride home from somebody. Even though I had a car, my sister and I plotted to have Dan be the one to drive me back home and she dropped me off in Orem. Of course Dan was there, and it was the only obvious choice for him to drive me home since he was living in Eagle Mountain and everyone else was living in Provo or Orem. So silly of me. And so he once again drove me home. And the rest is history...

We talked about getting married about 6 weeks after this date and were married 6 months later.
