Our Family Lately:

I feel like I haven't really blogged lately. I guess we are still in that winter fog... Last weekend Dan and his brother went to Las Vegas to take a NICET test to certify in Fire Alarm stuff again (They both did that last February, you know... when our car got smashed!). He doesn't find out the results for a couple of more weeks. Wish him luck, because it will be a good thing if he does well! I already know that he did great, though! I've been having a lot of fun taking pictures, I still have lots and lots to learn though, and I am very excited to start my class in March! Easton has been a busy boy, as normal! He is ALL boy! The other day we watched "Ratatouille" and at the beginning of the show there was a grandma that had gotten a rifle out and was shooting at the rats. Well, to make a long story short, Easton's latest thing is what he calls "flash". With the "flash" referring to guns and shooting. So, if he picks up a toy and points it at you, with correlating sound effects... don't worry, he's just flashing you. ;)
Isn't it funny how boys just pick these things up? I really can't imagine that a girl at his age would watch that movie and the most memorable part for her was the 30 seconds with a gun in it? Crazy kid. He loves books right now, too! Once we start to read to him, we have to make sure we are ready to be reading to him for a while. It makes me so happy that he is already loving books. I have never been much of a reader, but I have always wanted to be! He is also starting to memorize some of his books, and I can catch him reading to himself when he thinks that I am not around.
Other than that, there really isn't much to write about. We finally finished our kitchen, and we got a new table, so sometime I will have to update the post about our kitchen that I did last summer!
Here's a picture of Easton for all of you:

Easton may be reading before you know it! Emma started out very similar. She LOVED to have us read books to her, for a LONG time, and she would look at them for hours on end herself. Before long she was "reading" her favorite books to us that she had memorized. Then we noticed that it sure didn't take her long to "memorize" other books, especially those with not too many or familiar words. In hindsight, I'm sure she was already reading, but the thought never crossed our mind, because she wasn't even four yet. But not too long after her fourth birthday she was just reading - like completely and seemingly rather suddenly. We never really taught her, just read to her A LOT, right from the beginning. We thought it was great, until we could never get her to do anything else (like chores or go to sleep, etc.) So it can be a mixed blessing. But still a good thing (although it is a bit embarrassing that Emma's got a larger vocabulary than me). :^)
