[the card]

I hope that this will find everyone happy & healthy on this wonderful day... I am thinking a lot about family today, especially the ones that are not in Utah right now! Sorry that I never got these in the mail box, I hope that this will do. :)

The [Phase]

Every mommy wishes for some quiet time, but when it actually comes- it usually means trouble!

This was the aftermath of just one of several "quiet" times that we had today...

I just have to keep reminding myself that someday I will look back and  honestly miss all of these mini-disasters!

Side-note: Easton and I both have extremely dry, chapped skin (especially in the winter) and that is some intense, greasy lotion! Imagine the number of times we washed his hair this afternoon. :)

2 weeks...

Tomorrow, Nixon will be 2 weeks old and I am already starting to feel like he is growing up way too fast! He is such a sweet baby, and doesn't cry much. He loves to be held and cuddled, and everyone in our house is always fighting over who gets to hold him! He is so loved by all of us. His favorite thing to do when he isn't sleeping is to eat... he is definately a good eater. :0)
Delivery when more than well! I seriously couldn't have asked for better... I just hope that I am so lucky in the future.

Easton is adjusting really well, and LOVES his baby brother! He is so proud to be the big kid, and it is very sweet watching him around his baby brother. He is even starting to remember all of the "rules" that came with baby (like being soft, and not playing with baseball bats around baby...).

Also, I am so greatful for Dan and all of the extra work that he has been doing, not only with helping with Nixon, but with lots and lots and lots and lots (seriously) of other "projects" that has been demaning of his time and attention. He has been so great with everything- as always!

Here are some of the MANY MANY MANY pictures that we took of the little guy. It makes me so sad that we don't have any pictures like this of Easton when he was a baby...

7 lbs 6 oz

19.5 inches

We love him so much, and are so happy that he is now a part of our family! It has truly reminded us of the love that Heavenly Father has for us and the blessings that our family continually receives.

On the side of the blog I have a pregnancy counter... it says that my baby is 2 days old.

I WISH! :)

That one pregnancy post...

I am nearing the very END of pregnancy- yay! So, I decided I should record something about it on the blog for personal records. Pregnancy has been good to me, but I am very anxious for the days ahead of us! Anyone that knows anything about me knows that I LOVE LOVE LOVE newborns, I seriously can't get enough! Overall, this pregnancy was definately different from when I was pregnant with Easton... makes me wonder how this kiddo will be different. :)
The first 12 weeks:
This part was an emotional train wreck for me! I went from being so excited, to nervous, to reading way too much online of all the things that could go wrong and the statistics of a successful pregnancy that I had, to finally feeling some peace. It didn't help that every time I went in for my doctor visits (which was more often than normal) they were telling me different due dates, and on the first visit the ultrasound couldn't find anything at all...I don't want to do that over again (but I won't have to think twice if I had to).

Weeks 12-20:
This was the part that I was feeling very sick. I had a very hard time eating much of anything, and I ended up loosing 8 lbs before I started to gain any weight (I still had the tummy bump, that interfered with the clothes fitting). By the end, I was feeling much better and was catching up to where I needed to be! It was also the fun time in the pregnancy when I started to feel the baby move, and we found out that we were having a boy! My favorite doctor visit by far. :)

Weeks 20-30:
This was when I was feeling good and had good energy... and was looking pregnant. It seems silly, but I like it when I look pregnant (when I am pregnant), and not like I had just "gained a few lbs around the middle". We were starting to make plans, and get everything ready for baby to come!

Weeks 30-40:
This was when I have had a little less energy, and things started to get squishy... everyone is guessing that this baby will be smaller than Easton was when he was born (7 lbs 1oz). But I am wondering differently. This baby moves much more than Easton did, It actully is uncomfortable when he moves, and I feel like he is brusing up my insides. I don't ever recall feeling that way with Easton. Another thing that is different, is that I started having really uncomfortable contractions around 30 weeks as well, but I hear that is normal with a second pregnancy.

In the last 2 weeks, I have been seriously nesting! I haven't been able to sleep much lately because of it. The other day I woke up at 5 am and started scrubbing our bathrooms... so not me.
The walls are washed,
Laundry's done,
Errands ran,
Edits finished,
There are meals in my freezer,
Closets are organized,
The crib is set up,
The car is washed, detailed, oil changed and car seat installed
I updated my blog,
The Christmas tree is up,
Our bags are packed,
and somewhere in between I was even able to get some sleep!

Last little tidbit about this pregnancy was that I was very picky about my food.
When I wasn't feeling good, I lived on toast and couldn't even look at meat. (I was grocery shopping, and I decided to buy a bag of frozen chicken for Dan & Easton, and it was seriously making me gag...)
I crave fresh fruit- especially apples and peaches.
I couldn't get enough green salad!
I still can't eat chinese food.

Here's a pic of me at 38 weeks:

Halloween {2009}

Halloween for us this year was a pretty laid back day! We usually try to spend the day with family, but my super paranoid-ness about getting-sick-right-before-baby-comes came out and we just stuck around home and did our own thing. We went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, and Easton LOVED it! He is at such a fun age right now, especially on holidays like this one. He was our little pirate this year, and I am actually pretty surprized at how cute it turned out, because his costume was just pieced together by things that I found here and there. My friend, Keira made the baby legs (thanks!) and we borrowed the hat from my sister.
When we were done trick-or-treating, we came home just in time for our pizza to be delivered! Since it was my birthday, we had my favorite pizza (papa john's with tomatoes & pineapple) and a yummy salad. We had a nice warm pumpkin pie in the oven as well, but we were so full from dinner and candy, that we saved it for the next day.

When we were out, we discovered a worm on the sidewalk- and we just had to stop and check it out!

~Party Animal~

Easton had such a fun birthday weekend! On Friday we went to the Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point with a couple of neighborhood friends! Dan was able to take a long lunch from work and come along as well, which was a special treat! We decided that for a fun birthday tradition, we will go out to eat for dinner, and so we let Easton choose where he wanted to go and he chose McDonald's! The new McDonald's in the District seriously has the best playplace I have ever seen, and we spent a good 2 hours there at least! Our good friends Steve & Keira came along with us, and we had such a fun time! After dinner we went to their house and Easton opened up one gift from us (since, after all- it was his real birthday!). We bought him UNO-MOO! Such a cute cute game for his age, and Easton loved feeling like a big kid and playing with us! On Saturday, we had a family party at our house! He loves all of his cousins so much, and it made it special to have some of them over to celebrate!

Happy Birthday [BIG kid]

Today is a day that he's been waiting for!
HaPpY BiRtHdAy, we love you!

Little tid-bits about Easton:
*He is always a happy boy... even when he's not.
*He still is LOVING music, when he listens to songs he can name if it's a boy or a girl singing, and can identify if drums, guitar, piano, trumpets or violins are being played. He also recently discovered HSM, and really loved it.
*The other day he told me that I was his best friend... MELTED my heart.
*Right now his favorite toys are his "mack" trucks for his cars, coloring on his white board, reading library books, and guns (even though we don't have any...) Also- he is begging for "little legos with the yellow guys".
*Potty training is going really well, not 100% quite yet, but we can be out all day and I keep him in his undies.
*He still talks about going to school, and can't wait for the day to come.
*He can't wait for his baby brother to come so he can show him all of the "baby toys" that we have.

{IMAGINE}

Easton is at such a fun stage right now! I love how happy he is, and how he makes every situation fun and playful. Especially in the last couple of weeks, Easton has developed quite the ImAgInATioN! He is always imagining that he is making a big bowl of soup when he takes a bath, or that he has spiders in his teeth when we brush them.
We were shopping a couple of weeks ago at Target, and he had an imaginary friend jump in the cart! Of course he had us promptly buckle his friend up so he wouldn't fall out and run away... and he has been with us ever since. His friend is named George and he is a monkey, so I imagine that he looks a little bit like this:

George eats every meal with us, and he especially loves to ride in the car with us, too! Sometimes he accidentally gets left in in the car and we have to go back to get him.

For a side note- Easton loves reading books! Lately his favorite book to read before bed is Max's Bedtime... So, I wasn't too surprised when Max and his sister Ruby showed up one day not too much later.

Along with his clan of "special friends", Easton is usually never himself either. He is usually Spiderman, or Lightning McQueen, or a frog... today he is a blue bird. It's actually quite cute, because he tells me that I have a baby bird in my tummy (or baby spiderman or whatever he is for the day) .

I have a feeling that I will be quite sad when his pretending slows down and his "friends go home"... I am already sad for that day!

{You know things are crazy when I NEVER blog}

It's true- between being busy with family & holidays, this new hobby of ours, and the fact that each of us have had at least 1 round of the stomach flu and some type of "cold" that seems to come and go every other week, and me just having the normal pregnancy fatigue- our blog has been sorely neglected! But, I must be getting to the point in my pregnancy that I feel the need to have EVERYTHING in order, finished, caught-up, etc. because I have been feeling such "mom guilt" over not blogging and a mile-long list of everything else (including halloween costumes & Christmas shopping) that I NEED to get done before our next little guy comes! :) SO- Here I am getting caught up so I can once again sleep at night and not have lists going through my head of things that need to be crossed off.
For now I am just going to post a funny converstation that I had with Easton today while in the car running errands:
Easton: "Mom look at those sprays! There's 2 of them!"
Me: realizing that he was looking at sprinklers- and acting just as excited "Oh, are they getting the grass wet?"
Easton: "Yea! The grass is dirty!"
Me: "No, it's not dirty. The grass is thirsty and wanted a drink of water. Trees and grass and flowers like to drink water!"
Easton: "Oh- And rocks like to drink MILK!"
Posts coming soon:
Dan's Birthday
Our weekend in St. George
Forth of JULY
Pictures that we took of Easton back in June
(I haven't even edited them yet!)

And the [winner] is...

I had a doctor appointment today, and I asked the doctor if he would do our ultrasound early for us- and he did! We are so excited to have a little brother for Easton!

Quiz ------------>

We are going to find out on June 29th if we are having a girl or a boy! So... until then, we thought it would be fun to set up a poll to get everyone's input!
Are we going to be buying this CUTE outfit?
Or this CUTE one?

{I am in love with both of them!}

We're still here:

I haven't taken much time to post what has been going on with us lately. Mostly because there hasn't been much to post about, but also because I have kept myself pretty busy with this photography stuff. It has been fun, and definitely a learning experience! I love that it is something that Dan and I can do together, that has made it extra special! But I think that it has kept me so busy because on top of taking the time out to take and edit pictures for people, I am taking just as much (or more) time out trying to learn how to do that! :)
I also have to CONGRATULATE and brag about Dan for now being NICET level 2 certified! He has been working for 2 years to certify, and he is already scheduled to take the level 3 test in August! This isn't an easy thing, and there are only a handful of people in the state that has this type of certification. Not only has he studied on his own, but for the past 2 years, he has gone into work extra early every Wednesday to teach a class on it. So, he really has worked hard, and has done so well!
And what is a post without pictures of EASTON?? I really need to do better about posting the cute things that he says and does. It doesn't seem that I could ever forget him at this stage, but I think that I do more quickly than I realize. Right now he loves to sing, he will sing and hum all day long! He loves singing nursery songs, but it's funny because he won't even attempt it while he's at church. He's getting so grown up and has to do EVERYTHING by himself. And he just ADORES his Daddy and will stick up for him. Yesterday Easton and I picked Dan up from work to take him to lunch, and we were waiting in the car for him to be ready. I told Easton that Daddy was being slow, and he got so defensive and almost hurt that I would say such a crazy thing, and said "NO WAY, Daddy is FAST!".
I could probably go on all day about that kid. He is so funny. But here are some pictures that Dan took a couple of weeks ago when it was so rainy out.

Our {Fun} Weekend

Dan and I went out to dinner at the CHEESECAKE Factory and then to see WICKED on Saturday! It was a blast, and it was so nice to catch up with good friends that we don't get to see as often as we would like.

THANKS to Shasta & John for watching Easton for us!

The {THIRD} time is the [ChArM]

(this is obviously NOT my belly, but this is a crazy picture!)

I was going to post about our awesome Easter weekend, but we decided that we couldn't wait any longer before annoucing the BIG NEWS! I almost 10 weeks along, and our new baby will be due November 14th, 2009. Dan and I are both very confident that this baby will come into our family a happy and healthy baby! It has definately been a long and stressful 6 weeks that has been filled with so many crazy emotions, and quite a few doctor visits. We now have so much peace and excitement! Dan and I feel more than ready for this new adventure, and I think that Easton will be such a good big brother!

The {ART} of Sleep:

Here is a peek into Dan's life that most all of you don't know about him (I really hope that I don't embarass him)... he talks in his SLEEP! I think that it's cute, and at times can be oh so funny. :)

Here are some facts that I have learned about his "talent":

1. He has to be over-tired and over-worked, usually.

2. It happens within 15 or so minutes after he falls asleep, and he falls asleep within seconds of hitting his head to the pillow.

3. It usually starts off with a question, and I can usually keep the converstation going. (which is the fun part)

4. He usually talks about his technicians at work.

Here is a little snippet from last night's pillow talk:

(Remember, he is seriously, and totally asleep)

Dan: "Why is it green?"

Me: "What's green?"

Dan: "The M & M's"

Me: "What M & M's?"

Dan: *sigh* "The M & M's for Utah and BYU"

Duh, I should have known that they couldn't be green.

{family} pictures :2009:

A few weeks ago, we got pictures done by Lindsay Ross. I am happy with how they turned out. They are definately different than any pictures that we have had in the past, which was refreshing.
Here are just a few of my favorites.

[SUMMERTIME] ItCh

Right now I feel like these ducks... let's just go swimming anyway! No need to wait for our pool to open, or for it to stop SNOWING!

We are seriously going to utilize our neighborhood pool ALL summer long... basking in the warm sunshine... (Anyone reading this is welcome to come join us!)

[Obviously this picture was taken last week- when there was a moment of sunshine]

Our {Anniversary}

March 18th marked our 4 YeAr anniversary! We decided that since Easton is a little older and before we have another baby, that we should take advantage and have a little getaway to Park City! We went for 2 nights, and it was seriously the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on. It was a little hard to leave Easton for so long, but I knew that he was in good hands (thanks Cliss!) and that he was also having fun. I was told that he didn't even cry once!
We got to our hotel on Sunday night, we watched movies and relaxed that night. We SLEPT IN the next morning and spent the day SHOPPING, going to the MOVIES, and that night we ate at the fabulous Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, that was located in the hotel that we were staying in. If you haven't been there yet, make the time to go! But save your pennies first... it's pricey, but WELL worth it!
The weather was WARM & PERFECT, but there was still a layer of snow everywhere that was so beautiful!
Here is the Hotel that we stayed in:

Here is the view from our private patio:
After we ate dinner on Monday night, we walked around main street in Park City. I didn't realize how many art galleries there were, and we had a lot of fun browsing around. I was surprised by the busyness of it, too. There were a lot of people just walking up and down Main Street. I also LOVED all of the LIGHTS. It reminded me of Christmas.

We picked Easton up on Tuesday around lunch time (after ANOTHER morning of sleeping in) and we headed to McDonald's for lunch and let Easton play on the playplace there! He loves those things, and he loves feeling like a big kid!
The next morning we had family pictures taken (I will post them as soon as I get them), and later that afternoon, we went to the district and got my new favorite {Jamba Juice} and headed to a park at Daybreak and enjoyed the WARM weather.
Easton was loving the sand, we were there for a long time, just relaxing and watching Easton play. It was really so great!

:Jammies:

Does anyone remeber THIS post? First of all... I can't believe how much he has grown since less than a year ago, and second of all... now I am not the only one anymore who loves Jammies. Except, I think that Easton and I have different type of style...

I saw those Lightning McQueen summer jammies at walmart for super cheap, and Easton was all but jumping out of the cart to yank them off of the rack, so I decided to get them for him. Unfortunately for Easton, it's not summer yet. So we had a compromise. He could wear them NOW, if I could put thermals on underneath. Also seen in the picture is his buddy George and mommy's slippers (which are obviously better than his own!). Anyway, let's just say that sometimes it can be a battle to get dressed.

My Latest Online [gem]

Dan and I both LOVE online shopping! It's quick, convenient, and in some cases it can be a lot cheaper. I wanted to share the link to my latest online fix for all of my eco-friendly buddies out there!
They have cute bags, and some nifty products! I ordered Easton a mini backpack (he's getting so grown up!) and they were back ordered on the color I wanted, so when it comes in they are giving me free shipping, so my total will only be $9.99 (plux tax, probably). For searching, and searching for a simple, lightweight backpack that is machine washable for a toddler- that is an amazing deal! Not to mention that it was made by an eco-friendly, fair-wage/fair-labor company. PLUS, when it comes in... (drumroll please!) I will be diaper bag FREE! That is something worth celebrating, at least until the next kiddo decides to make it's debut into the family.

Our Family Lately:

I feel like I haven't really blogged lately. I guess we are still in that winter fog... Last weekend Dan and his brother went to Las Vegas to take a NICET test to certify in Fire Alarm stuff again (They both did that last February, you know... when our car got smashed!). He doesn't find out the results for a couple of more weeks. Wish him luck, because it will be a good thing if he does well! I already know that he did great, though! I've been having a lot of fun taking pictures, I still have lots and lots to learn though, and I am very excited to start my class in March! Easton has been a busy boy, as normal! He is ALL boy! The other day we watched "Ratatouille" and at the beginning of the show there was a grandma that had gotten a rifle out and was shooting at the rats. Well, to make a long story short, Easton's latest thing is what he calls "flash". With the "flash" referring to guns and shooting. So, if he picks up a toy and points it at you, with correlating sound effects... don't worry, he's just flashing you. ;)
Isn't it funny how boys just pick these things up? I really can't imagine that a girl at his age would watch that movie and the most memorable part for her was the 30 seconds with a gun in it? Crazy kid. He loves books right now, too! Once we start to read to him, we have to make sure we are ready to be reading to him for a while. It makes me so happy that he is already loving books. I have never been much of a reader, but I have always wanted to be! He is also starting to memorize some of his books, and I can catch him reading to himself when he thinks that I am not around.
Other than that, there really isn't much to write about. We finally finished our kitchen, and we got a new table, so sometime I will have to update the post about our kitchen that I did last summer!
Here's a picture of Easton for all of you:

[MY] valentine:

I know that I am a {little} late in posting this, and it threatens to be a {little} cheesy.

I just wanted to tell Dan how grateful I am to have him in my life! He is the best Daddy, and he works so hard to keep me happy! ;) I try really hard not to think of what my life would be without him, because it is such a scary thought. I know that I am the person that I am today, because he makes me better just knowing him!

Thanks again, for everything that you do for me!

I love you.

Life is {BEAUTIFUL}

There are such sweet moments in life that remind me of the miracle that this little boy is in our life! I am so grateful for my life. My Easton, and My Dan. ;0)
I love how happy he always is, especially when he takes a bubble bath,
which is one of his very favorite things!
